** Joy Haines and Honey
I won Honey 18 years ago in a BLM Raffle (She was out of Burns, Oregon)
and she was 2 years old with only 6 months of training on her. I was 28
years of age and had never even been on a horse in my life. I saw her
at the Fair being raffled and I said to myself "I'm gonna win that horse
and I'm gonna name her Honey!". Long story short. A 14 year old boy
won her but had no facilities to keep her so I offered mine with the
hopes to share her. Within 2 months he tired of her and turned her over
to me.
This was our very first show ever for her and me. She is now 20 and I
am 45 years old. I was truly a novice but what I got to experience in
Reno was probably one of the top three memorable events I have ever
experienced in my life. Right up there with marriage and childbirth.
Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Mark Terrell is the Photographer of our beautiful
poster this year!! The story that goes with the poster: This
picture of free roaming Mustangs was taken in Dayton, NV.
The little colt that is drinking has a stallion standing behind him,
watching another band of horses approach the waterhole. The
stallion stood there protecting the colt until he was finished drinking,
and then they walked off together. |
