| | Expo 2005 is proud to announce a very exciting line-up of Clinicians! (Listed alphabetically) | The Mustang Mavericks are back to thrill us with precision riding during the Friday Nite Showcase, and to offer their Drill Team Clinic. This clinic was very popular last year, and we are pleased to be able to offer it again this year! Sandi Anderson and the rest of the Mavericks will work "hands on" with participants and their horses. If you've been thinking of starting or joining a drill teram, or if you're already in one but want to hone your skills or learn new routines, this clinic is a great opportunity! | | Hank Curry, the man behind the success of the Carson City Prison's Wild Horse Program, will offer a very important clinic for all folks who are thinking of adopting a wild horse - whether you're planning to get one at Expo, or still not sure, this is your chance to learn how to be successful. After Saturday's adoption, Hank will offer another clinic for those who did adopt - teaching new adopters how to handle their new horses, how to load them into trailers, and how to feed and care for their new horses. | | "“Adventures with Cloud”Ginger invites kids of all ages into the tent for an "up close and personal" presentation about Cloud and the lives of wild horses. | | The Bamboo Pole Method of starting mustangs. Using a long bamboo pole as an extension of your arm, this method has helped countless adopters acheive initial contact with their new wild horse or burro. Nobody is better at explaining it than Kitty Lauman, and she will be at Expo to demonstrate. The bamboo pole method is particularly useful to adopters who have a square or rectangular pen rather than a round pen. | THE LIFESAVERS DREAM TEAM
This group of 6 young volunteers, ranging in age from 16 to 30, have prepared three demos to showcase Lifesavers' work. | 1. The first demo will an introduction to Lifesavers and will visually explain about our rescue and adoption program. 2. The second demo will be about the adoptable horses. They will introduce them and one by one the handlers will show the crowd what the horses can and cannot do. The announcer will tell the stories of the horses and their handlers. And how the "Dream Team" came to be. There will be an "in-hand" drill involving all 6 horses to music. Should be cool. 3. The third demo will be a fun mock "liberty" class with a twist. Not sure what the twist is yet, but will be more than what you see at the Arabian shows. | | GENTLING WILD HORSES Using Pressure and Release, and Listening to the Horse. When Lesley talks, wild horses listen! Lesley gentles wild horses in the round pen, and explains what she's seeing and doing at every step. Crowds love Lesley's soft, gentle approach to working with wild horses.
_small1.jpg) | | Resistance Free mustang gentling Richard Shrake will demonstrate his techniques and philosophy of working with wild horses. |
| "At Liberty" - As part of the Friday Night Showcase, Jerry will thrill the crowds at the beauty of unrelated, unfamiliar formerly wild horses running together as a herd. Volunteers handlers will follow Jerry's guidance to gradually direct the horses and connect with them. Trailer Loading - For their own safety, every horse or burro should load quickly and willingly into a trailer, yet it is the skill most owners have trouble with. Jerry will teach us how to do it! Demo #3: Prepare Ahead for Safe Handling in Panic Situations (or, "What to do when your horse thinks he can't") FROM THIS TO THIS
