DON'T FORGET, WE ALSO HAVE GAMES

For our first year of putting on the Expo, we are subject to time constrictions, so the class list is a shortened version of what we hope to be able to have in the future with the success of the expo this year. Our goal is to expand the class list and have many more classes for Mustangs, Appendix Mustangs and Burros in future Expos.

See "Show Rules" for complete rules and guidelines.
Note: Rules Have Been Amended, as of June 25, 2003, so please look!

Please note that non-freeze branded and Appendix Horses or Mules may only show in those classes that are designated for that type of animal being shown - "OPEN" classes are for freeze-branded or range-bred animals only, but all levels of experience (green through pro)

Please also note that Burros may be shown in the In-Hand or Mounted Trail right along with the horses. They are subject to the same rules as the horses/mules, but they can compete in those classes if they want to. It will not be separate ribbons, but instead being judged with the horses and mules.

Note To Show Entrants: If you can't find what you need on this website, or still have questions about showing, classes, etc.

Classifications of Horses, Burros, & Mules for the Purposes of Showing:

  • Freeze Branded or Range-Bred Mustangs, Burros, & Mules: Are either freeze branded with some type of government or other agencies or rescue/adoption group's freeze brand OR documentation can be shown that the animal was a wild horse, burro or mule at one point or, although not having a freeze brand, had a dam that was bred in the wild but had her foal in domesticity.
  • Non-Freeze Branded Mustang, Burro or Mule: a pureblooded Mustang, Mustang Mule, or BLM Burro whose dam was NOT bred in the wild and the foal was born in domesticity: Documentation must be shown to prove wild parentage. Examples of this would be the horse, burro or mule being the product of a domestic breeding program.
  • Appendix Mustang, Burro or Mule: an animal that is 1/2-Mustang/BLM. Documentation to prove that at least one of the parents was Mustang or BLM burro.
  • No person under the age of 18 is allowed to show a stallion or a Jack Burro, or to handle said animal anywhere other then in the stabling areas. This is for safety reasons and there are to be no exceptions.

Competitors should please read the rulebook thoroughly for show procedures, class descriptions and classifications, stabling information and pre- and post entry information.
