FUN CLASSES for HORSES, MULES and BURROS: | Magic Carpet - In-Hand Only for Safety Reasons—Horses, Mules and Burros-- This game is played like musical chairs, only with your animal on a halter and lead rope. Car tires will be laid out in a double column, with one less tire then there are entries in the class. The pair of animal and person move around the outside of the columns of tires while the music is playing -- all traveling in the same direction. When the music stops, handlers must try to lead their animal to a tire and STOP with the person having both feet in the tire. Passing is allowed but only to the outside of the circle. If riders have just passed an empty tire when the music stops, they may not go back to that tire, but must continue to the next tire. If they do not find an open tire, they are eliminated. As handler/animal pairs are eliminated, so are the number of tires. Ribbons awarded to 6th place. | | Rattlesnake Roundup (Friday Night) - In-Hand—Burros Only—A timed event filled with danger! Serpents (or other scary things) abound and must be gathered. Stuff as many in your sack as you dare and high tail it to the finish line…before the music stops! |
Non-Horse related "fun" classes: | Three-Legged Race. One feed sack for two people. Participants stand side-by-side and put leg closest to each other in feed sack. Together, they race to the finish line. | | Boot Race. (Friday Night) Each participant takes off boots or foot apparel and puts them in a pile. Participants race to put on boots and they race back to the finish line. |
